We have an Edward de Selvier-Solis, of Darro, Spain

He made a second marriage to Alice Carpentier


There is an Edward Carpentier de Selvier, Exeter, England, c.1801-89, according to Science & Society website, who composed and had published light music, he also ran a young ladies’ musical academy.

...and M. Carpentier de Selvier, professor of music, of this city.  From what we can gather, it would appear that some years ago, when Carpentier was lecturing on the continent, accompanied by a highly talented young pupil, de Kontski visited the same


...when Carpentier's real name (De Selvier?)was mentioned……(We understand that "Carpentier" is only assumed by that gentleman)


This can’t be Edward of Mar Lodge, because he would have been born in about 1843.  Is he the son of Edward de Selvier Solis, or did that Edward change his name after his marriage to Alice Carpentier?


Because Edward of Mar Lodge would appear to be the son of Edward and Alice above.

They had a daughter “Alice Rose, youngest daughter of Edward de Selvier Solis of Darro, Spain, by Alice Carpentier his 2nd wife; born at Exeter, co. Devon, 13 January 1851; married by special licence at Dublin 27 April 1870 ; died at 30 Eversfield Place, St. Leonard's-on-Sea,  Sussex, 1 December 1891, buried in Ore Cemetery, Hastings, co. Sussex. “
