LIEUT. COL. THE HON. GILBERT ELLIOT. LATE OF THE RIFLE BRIGADE

YOUNGEST SON OF THE EARL OF MINTO. HE LOST HIS HEALTH IN ARDUOUS  MILITARY SERVICE IN SOUTH AFRICA AND THE CRIMEA, AND DIED

AT HASTINGS, ASCENSION DAY, MAY 25TH 1865. AGE 39

SIXTH DAUGHTER OF
ASHURST TURNER GILBERT, D.D
NINETY-SECOND BISHOP OF CHICHESTER,,
SHE WAS BORN ON 4 MARCH 1832, AND MARRIED FIRSTLY, 1858,
LIEUT. COLONEL THE HONBLE GILBERT ELLIOT, RIFLE BRIGADE
AND SECONDLY, 1878
THE RIGHT HONBLE HUGH CULLING CHILDERS,
WHO SURVIVED HER EIGHT MONTHS,
AND WHO IS BURIED AT CANTLEY IN WORCESTERSHIRE.
SHE DIED ON THE OCTAVE OF ASCENSION DAY, 30 MAY 1895
