Emily Kingsnorth was born in Maidstone, Kent in 1835 as Emily Edmeads. Her parents were Wiliam Thomas and Jane Edmeades. She married Joseph Kingsnorth on the 19th November 1856 in St Marylebone, Middlesex. They lived at Kenardington Cross House in Kenardington, Kent.
They had seven children, all born in Kent,:
Her husband Joseph died in 1867, but Emily continued with the farm in Kenardington until the late 1880s.
The 1891 census shows her living as a landlady of a boarding house at 20, Grand Parade in Hastings. She is widowed, and her son Arthur is living with her, there are also two nieces visiting.
In a 1902 Street Directory she is living at 19 Gensing Road.
Emily died at 1 White Rock, St Mary Magdalen in Hastings on 30th November 1902 aged 67.
Her son Arthur was with her when she died.
