Hastings and St Leonards Observer - Saturday 25 April 1914
LOSS TO ST. MATTHEW'S.  DEATH OF VICE-ADMIRAL BOYS.
We regret to announce the death of Admiral H. H. Boys, of Bonnington. Amherst-gardens. Hastings, which occurred on Thursday, from pneumonia.

The gallant Admiral was 74 years of age, but had retained his vigour up to his last illness. He had been in the Navy for 44 years, and in the course of his long career he took part in several engagements.  He was in the Baltic during the Crimean War.  He was Flag-Captain to Admiral Heneage at the Nore — his last Naval appointment.

[The Nore Station was one of the three Home Ports of the Royal Navy.  Named for the Nore sandbank at the mouth of the River Thames, it encompassed Chatham Royal Dockyard and Sheerness Royal Dockyard and ships not attached to other fleets.]

For the past 12 years the Admiral had resided at Hastings, and during the greater part of that time he had been Rector's Warden of St. Matthew's, Silverhill.   He took great interest all matters connected with that church.  Admiral Boys leaves a widow and family. 1 p. only; ink and pencil manuscript]- (1 vol.)Account book of H.
