Jane Head & Family continued

Maria’s birth in Hastings would seem to indicate that they were living here since at least 1844, Charles died in 1849 and in 1856 (and possibly earlier) we find Jane Head of St Clement Hastings - Settlement examination dhbc/DH/B/92/3/174  20 Nov 1856

In the 1861 census Jane is living at 1, Castle Terrace and her occupation is shown as Fundholder, which would suggest no further need for a Settlement Examination.

The 1871 census shows her daughter Emily living with her at Castle Down Terrace, as well as a 12 year old visitor, a grandson, son of Mary and her husband Henry Harrod. They also have two servants.
