Hastings and St Leonards Observer - Saturday 03 December 1881
DEATH OF MR.
GEORGE JENNER.
Mr. George Jenner, who for the last two years has resided in the Laton-road, Hastings, and was well known in connection with the institution of Blacklands Christ Church, suddenly died Saturday afternoon last.  About a fortnight previously he had a fit and had been ailing since.  He seemed, however, better on Saturday morning, and had just taken lunch with some friends, when momentary and without pain, he passed away. He was much respected through life …….. [He had lived in Udimore for the previous 23 years]

Hastings and St Leonards Observer - Saturday 03 December 1881
Not merely the borough of Hastings, but the district for many miles round, will read with regret the announcement of the death of Mr. George Jenner, which took place at Laton-road, St. Helen's, on Saturday.

The deceased gentleman retired from business two years ago, and since that time has passed a quiet but useful and religious life in the locality where he died.  For more than a quarter of a century he lived in Udimore, and during nearly the whole of that period he maintained a name before the county as an eminent agriculturist.

As an active politician also Mr. Jenner was well known.  He was an earnest Liberal, and into the struggles for party supremacy in the borough of Rye and the rural division he was wont to throw himself heart and soul.  On leaving Udimore, he was presented, by a number of admiring friends, with a handsome testimonial, and, but for the death of the Mayor of Rye at about the time, a public dinner would also have been given him.  Not one will have a harsh word of him whose remains were lowered into the grave on Thursday.  Those who differed with him most upon public matters were among his warmest personal admirers. Englishmen know how to disagree without hating each other.
