Peter James Nye was born in Bohemia in 1853, to Joshua Nye and SARAH (born WHITE) Nye of Battle.

Peter had 9 siblings: Joshua Nye, Isabella Nye and 7 other siblings.

Peter at age 20 married Mercy Ann Nye.  Mercy was born in 1857, in Heatfield, Sussex, England in 1873,.

The funeral of Mrs. P. Nye, 5, Pelham-street, was at the Borough Cemetery 011 Wednesday. The cortege passed through Bohemia-road, where deceased was in business for a large number of years. The mourners were Mr. James Nye (son). Mr. John Nye (son). Mrs. J A. Johnston (daughter). Mrs. M. Grundy (daughter), Mrs. I Richardson (daughter), ; ……… Mr. Peter Nye (son) was unable to be present. ……..
