Abraham Shrewsbury was born in Chatham, Kent, England on 25 Aug 1823 to Edward Shrewsbury and Eliza Jane Billet.


A Marriage Feast for to about 40 persons, including the employees of Messrs. Alderton and Shrewsbury, was given on the 14th of May, at the Anchor Inn, on the occasion of Mr. Shrewsbury’s marriage, at Greenwich. to- Cecilia Sarah Roberts born 1829

1858 - Alderton and Shrewsbury, ironmongers and iron founders, 70 and 71 George street, and 1b Robertson street


1861 - The Annual Supper to Messrs Alderton & Shrewsbury, iron founders, took place at the Cutter inn on the 25th of November, the anniversary of the patron saint, St. Clement.


1867 - Alderton & Shrewsbury, ironmongers, iron founders, smiths, bell-hangers, gas fitters, braziers, tinplate workers, stove & range manufacturers & bar iron merchants, 69 & 70  George Street, & 1B,  Robertson Street


1868 - 41 cast iron boundary posts to mark the line of the Hastings Parliamentary Boundary were ordered from Alderton & Shrewsbury of Rock-a-Nore, Hastings at a cost of 22 shillings each

1851 Great Exhibition - an improved stove from Messrs. Alderton and Shrewsbury

1857 - St. Clement, the Patron Saint of the Forge was duly honoured by Messrs. Alderton and Shrewsbury giving a supper to twenty-four of their workmen.
