In 1872 The executors convey the premises to the trustees (subject to an annual rentcharge of £40 payable for the maintenance of Ebenezer Fenner) for divine worship according to the tenets specified, and according to certain rules, also specified, Thomas Hull being appointed pastor.  Ebenezer Trimming of Claremont, Hastings, carriage trimmer, was one of the trustees named  And again in 1873  in a conveyance of land for extensions to Ebenezer Chapel.  (“Piece of ground on or near the Tackleway)”

At this time it looks as if Ebenezer and Rhoda might have been running a boarding house.


1897 March 3 In a terrific gale, Ebenezer Trimming of 46 St Mary’s Terrace, was killed by a falling wall as he walked up Wallinger’s Walk onto the West Hill.
